Hobbies:

Time with my wife, Playing with Kids, Weightlifting (not often enough to get big), Listening to Music

Pets:
I had dogs and some pet mice when I was a kid. The mice always smelled weird. We devoted 12 years to raising only humans, they smell much better than other pets. Now we have one gerbil and two puppies. It has been a big adjustment, but also a lot of fun.
Favorite Musical Genre or Band:

I like the "Indelible Grace" series of hymn revisions, retro "O Brother Where Art Thou" type Country & Americana, Alternative Rock, and I'm learning to love classic Jazz. Current favorite artists would be Switchfoot, Andy Gullahorn, LeCrae, and David Crowder. I also occasionally listen to Bach, but I see that as kind of like the green vegetables of the musical world.

Movie or Book that Means a Lot to You:

I remember watching "Patriot Games" before getting married. Harrison Ford's reluctant heroism got me pumped up to be there for my (then future) wife and kids. I read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy last year: it is gruesome and horrific, but the story of the father's love for his son is pretty cool. I read "The Prodigal God" by Tim Keller this year. It is also a story about a father's love for his sons. I highly recommend it.

Married? How long?:
Men, you remember walking through the mall or a park- and seeing some ugly guy with a cute girl and wondering how he got her? I still don't know how I got her... but I've held on to her for 16 years! We have enjoyed growing up together!
Kids?:
Three great kids- girl, boy, girl. Oldest is in middle school. That means I'm old.
Hidden Talent:
Whistling. Eating. Singing in my car.

Favorite or Memorable Vehicle You Have Driven:

"The Gremlin". It was actually a pretty cool V-6 Pontiac Sunbird. It had a strange angular shape that reminded my youth pastor of a "Gremlin", so every time we had a contest with the youth group that had no set prize, he would announce that the winner would receive a "free ride in Dave's Gremlin".

Philosophy of Ministry / Goals for Your Place of Service at GBC:
To Proclaim God's Message Passionately, Creatively, and Consistently. (2 Tim. 4:1-5). I'm convinced that the core message of the Bible is God's grace. Christ's work not only secures our future, but transforms our life here and now.
